Lionel Messi Gets 21-Month Prison Term For Tax Fraud

Lionel Messi Gets 21-Month Prison Term For Tax Fraud

What’s the heck is happening to Lionel Messi?

Following his sensational retirement from international football (after another heartbreaking loss to Chile at the 2016 Copa America finals), the Barcelona star and his father Jorge Horacio are sentenced to 21 months in jail and was handed with a $4.1 million fine after being found guilty of tax fraud.

According to reports, the 29-year-old 5-time FIFA World Player winner had not paid his taxes on the 4.16 euros of his income from his image rights from 2007 to 2009, and even used companies in Belize, Britain, Switzerland and Uruguay to avoid paying them. However, because they’re first time offenders, Spain will most likely pardon them from actually being thrown into the slammer.

Messi and his father voluntarily paid 5.0 million euros in total unpaid taxes plus interest in August 2013 after being formally investigated.

Conor McGregor Bought BMWs For His Entire Family, Says Dad

Conor McGregor Bought BMWs For His Entire Family, Says Dad

conor mcgregor interview

Conor McGregor is actually quite very generous, according to his father, Tony McGregor, who spoke with The Independent in Ireland.

According to the UFC champ’s dad, Conor surprised the family with a fleet of BMW 5 Series cars back in 2005. Tony told the publication:

“He came home from an American trip last year, and I saw this fleet of cars coming around the corner with him in the lead car, a black BMW 5 Series.”

“I presumed it was an entourage chauffeuring him home, but he told me to hop in and asked if I liked the car? I said it was lovely and he handed me the keys and said, ‘Good, because it’s yours.’ He bought one for everyone in the family, which was really nice.”

We’re thinking he got four, all in all–for his parents and 2 sisters. It’s no surprise that Conor loves cars, especially after he bought himself a couple of Rolls-Royces.

Must be nice to be considered family by Conor, despite his reported behavioral problems!

Johnny Manziel Officially Indicted For Domestic Violence

Johnny Manziel Officially Indicted For Domestic Violence

Johnny Manziel has finally been indicted on 1 count of misdemeanor assault for allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, back in January… and we’re not exactly surprised.

We already heard from Crowley herself that the Cleveland Browns QB had repeatedly hit her several times with her hand, leaving her with a ruptured eardrum, and then “forced [her] into a vehicle and against a vehicle dashboard” during an argument in their car while leaving a bar in Dallas. Manziel has since denied such allegations.

Current court documents say that the grand jury believes there’s enough evidence to prove that Manziel did in fact hit his ex, so they’ve officially handed down the charge.

If convicted, Manziel would be facing up to a year in the slammer.

Suspended Josh Gordon Reportedly Fails Another Drug Test

Suspended Josh Gordon Reportedly Fails Another Drug Test

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has not yet been reinstated to the NFL after 80 days, and now we might know why.

The NFL star, who has been suspended four times since 2011 for his repeated violations of the NFL’s policy on substance abuse, reportedly failed another league-administered drug test last month. According to the report by Fox Sports, both of his urine samples were diluted and tested positive for marijuana. The marijuana sample was less than the 35 nanograms per milliliter required for a positive test, but is nonetheless considered positive.

While this doesn’t mean Gordon will be missing yet another season, it obviously doesn’t help his reinstatement chances and could make NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reluctant to reinstate Gordon.

And in case you were wondering what Gordon’s tweets were, yes, it seems he was talking about this news. On Monday, he sent cryptic tweets:
