Joe Rogan: “I’d Like To Move On” From UFC Commentator Job

Joe Rogan has become a staple in every UFC broadcast, so much that it would be noticeably different without him making color commentaries about the fights.

The huge UFC fan, who also rose to fame as the host of “Fear Factor,” has been handling the mic duties for the sport since forever (1997). Of course, nothing lasts forever and all good things must also come to an end.

“If the [UFC] sale goes through I’m outta there,” Rogan recently told Rolling Stone when asked about rumors about the league selling for more than 4 billion dollars. “I’m already wondering whether or not I can continue doing this as it is. I will always be a fan, I’ll always love it, but shit, I’ve been working for the UFC on and off for almost 20 years. And that’s more than I’ve done anything in my life. I’d like to move on.

“The only other thing I’ve done longer than that is stand-up comedy, but you know, with stand-up comedy I’m constantly writing new material, I’m traveling, I do it out of my schedule, I do it whenever I want. You know, it’s a very different thing calling fights rather than just being a fan. I’ll always be a fan, for sure, but as far as calling fights…boy, I don’t see that going on very much longer.”

Late last year, Rogan also hinted at ending his long run as a UFC commentator after mentioning that his contract with the company was going to be up in August this year. At the time, he said, “I like taking chances, and I like walking away from things. I’m not a big fan of doing the same s**t over and over again.”

It truly has been grueling for a huge fan that has had an overwhelming dose of the sport, no matter how much he’s getting for the stint. Back when he started, there were only about 7 huge stints for him a year, compared to the 26+ all around the world the past few years.

Looks like these next few months will truly be the last that we’ll see (and hear) of Rogan in the UFC, so better relish his presence while it lasts.
